All our orders are sent by courier and our couriers require a signature for all deliveries.
For UK deliveries, if you have added a mobile phone number on the order, you will receive text message notifications from DPD with a one-hour time slot on the day of delivery and you can text back if the time is not convenient to instruct DPD to deliver to a neighbour or pick-up shop, to leave the parcel in a safe place or to deliver on a different day. Upon request, our customer services team can also select these options on your behalf directly on DPD's website if needed. These options are not available for international deliveries with DHL.
If the recipient is not in when delivery is attempted, the driver can either deliver to a neighbour (this is allowed without the sender's or recipient's instruction, as part of DPD's Terms & Conditions) or the order will be returned to the depot and held for 48 hours until further instructions from Fortnum & Mason.
Leave in a safe place is only allowed if it has been authorised by Fortnum & Mason or by the sender/recipient, or if the order contains fresh food in which case the driver is allowed to leave the order in a safe place on the premises (if there is no safe place, the driver can redeliver the fresh order within 24 hours).
You can also download the DPD App and set delivery preferences - please be aware, however, that if you set your preference to leave with a neighbour or in a safe place, for instance, the driver will always follow this instruction for every delivery. You can of course update your preferences in the DPD App if needed.
